Repairing Significant Basement Water Leaks In Newly Constructed Home in Huntington, NY
Challenge
Ms. M. called Healthy Basement Systems for help when she discovered their newly constructed house had significant amounts of water coming into the basement from several places. Our experienced Systems Designer Eric Greenberg found very high humidity, a pipe that was leaking, and water that seemed to be coming from the floor wall joint.
Solution
First, we installed a WaterGuard system around the perimeter of the entire basement, including four WaterGuard Ports, which allow the homeowner to check the system periodically to ensure there is no blockage. We then installed a TripleSafe Sump pump for water in the WaterGuard System to drain into, so the TripleSafe may pump it outside. The TripleSafe has three pumps: a primary, a backup, and a third battery-operated pump that kicks in if the power goes out, ensuring that the pump will ALWAYS work, and water will never get into the basement again.
For the leaky pipe, we installed a FlexiSpan to support it and send the water directly to the WaterGuard system. We then installed our patented ThermalDry wall system on all walls as a vapor barrier to lower the humidity. A Sedona Sani-Dry dehumidifier was installed to keep humidity levels permanently low.
We also corrected another new leak discovered coming in through the window well on the west wall, and another from the sewer pipe joint abouy 4 feet off the ground on the north wall. The leaks here were also fixed so that any further leakage is directed into the WaterGuard System to be pumped out.
Finally, outside the home, we installed LawnScape and IceGuard drainage systems, ensuring that water from the basement can always drain outside in any and all weather conditions.
