Crawl Space Repair in Smithtown, NY
Challenge
This Smithtown residence presented itself with some of the textbook issues we encounter on Long Island.
We found water intrusion in the crawl space, and also high humidity, mold and wood damage to the beams. Various insects, spiders and a significant odor was also present.
Solution
The water intrusion was addressed with a Sump Pump (with Battery Back-up) and drainage matting.
The floors and walls were lined with the CleanSpace membrane which sealed the area from moisture and air, and directed water leakage under the drainage matting to the Sump Pump.
Air tight vent covers and access door was installed, and an appropriately sized SaniDry dehumidifier / air filtration system reduced relative humidity and moisture content to acceptable levels.
The wood framing affected by mold was treated, and new support columns supplemented the existing piers.
The space has now been reclaimed as a clean dry storage space!
